These flies are the only pattern I have used for muskies for the past 15+ years. They are proven flies and are to be used with a sink-tip line. I personally use 300 grain for the local creeks that I fish.
Flies are tied using Trokar TK130-XL 5/0 Flippin' XL Hooks. These hooks have a narrow profile and are extremely stout, which helps keep the weight down on the fly for easier casting, and the stoutness is there for a heavy hook-up. The "double" flies are connected with two loops of 60lb Floro.
Flies are approximately 10"-12" with a 3"-4" profile. They are tied with bucktail, flash, marabou, long rooster hackle, and deer hair on the heads to help the fly push water.
